Dancer

CORWIN’S DANCE WITH NORTHER 103690

Dancer has always been a real gentleman in the barn. He has been shown in the top shows in our surrounding states, and shown against some of the best five-gaited horses. He was trained by Bill Sutton (Mo.) and was ridden by Kenny Smith a couple of times and myself (Lloyd) many times. He is very healthy right now - but has not been shown for about three years. When we retired we sold or gave away most of our equipment. However we do have his bridle and show shoes for anyone interested in him. If someone would decide to geld him he would make a wonderful show pleasure or country pleasure riding or driving horse. We would be glad to talk to anyone about Dancer and be very honest about him. We just absolutely want to find a good home for him because he deserves to be cared for and used - he is that wonderful of a five-gaited horse. He is a natural five-gaited horse. Our telephone number is 309-798-2480 He is located in Illinois City, IL.

-Elmo-

(Elmo's first arrival at HARPS)

(Elmo's first arrival at HARPS)

HARPS fostered Colt in need of forever home! Elmo was rescued form the horrific Crete, IL case in 2010.
Will you provide him with the loving home he deserves?

Information provided from Elmo's wonderful current foster home:
"I have fostered Elmo for almost 2 years now and he has been an absolute pleasure to have at my barn. I have contemplated keeping him but we already have 8 horses of our own and with a full time job and hay/grain prices increasing it just isn't feasible anymore. He is around 2.5 years old. He is half QH and half Welsh Cob and at maturity will not be over 15 hands, at least that is my guess. He is UTD on vaccines, de-worming and hoof trims. I had him gelded shortly after I acquired him from HARPS and also had his wolf teeth removed. He is a sensitive, sometimes timid horse, always at the bottom of the herd but at the same time he will warm right up to anyone with a treat and a scratch on the neck or behind his ears. He is an adorable mover and will make a gorgeou
s mount for a child/small adult. I am not a fan of cross-ties so I don't think he knows what those are but we have worked on ground tying and he will stand politely while tied in the stall to be groomed/trimmed. I have lunged him several times in the round pen as well, he is a quick learner so no problem there. I really can't say enough good things about this guy. He has a gorgeous black coat in the summer and a beautiful thick tail with red highlights to go along with it. Did I mention the blond hair in the inside of his ears? He is a sweetie pie and I would really love to keep in touch with whomever adopts him. I will miss Elmo greatly but I want him to be in a home where he is spoiled rotten and loved on because that is what a horse like him deserves :--)))."

Call the HARPS office and leave your name provided on the adoption application and reference Elmo.

-Spartan-

Hello, my name is Caitlin Satalic. I need to find a new home for my 4 year old, ex harness racing Standardbred named Spartan. He retired after an injury to his left hind fetlock joint, but seems to be very sound. He never limps or favors the leg as far as I can tell. He is not broke to ride but saddles and bridles with no problem. I am assuming he can drive since that is what he was trained to do. He is registered, but I don't have his papers. His registered name is Dr. Dew, I was able to find him online by looking up his name and tattoo number on his neck. He is 15 hands tall, very dark bay, and very handsome! He’s just a little fuzzy and dirty now with all this unseasonal rain and mud! Spartan gets along great with my mare, except he's a little grumpy at feeding time with her and sometimes me. You have to watch his hind end when he's eating sometimes. He's very sweet otherwise, he lets me groom him all over, I can pick up his feet just fine. I have never had a problem with him kicking when he hasn’t had food. He’s a little skittish of new things, but gets used to them quickly. Like my goat, dog, ect.. No health issues that I am aware of. He's easy to handle, I don't have any problems controlling him. He also has the kindest eyes that just melt your heart. I really wish I could keep him because he has so much potential and life ahead of him, but unfortunately two horses is too much. He definitely needs work if he is to become rideable but he seems like he'll be a fast learner. I live in Beecher Illinois. Anyone interested can call me at 630-452-6511 Or email me at Littleshaewolf@gmail.com

-Cody-

Cody is an AQHA registered fourteen year old bay gelding. He stands around 15 hands. He is up to date on all his shots, and coggins. He had his teeth floated this spring while he had his shots. He has shoes on his front feet and none on his back. He will go anywhere and do just about anything, he practically loads himself in a trailer. It takes him a little while to get to trust you like i mention
ed in my above story, but once he knows that your on his side he will do anything you ask of him. He can be all the way at the back of the pasture and when he hears and sees my truck even being lame he will make a run for the gate and be there to greet me once i get there.

Having his bone spur has not afffected Cody's quality of life at all he still likes to romp around, and he is definitely eating well (If you cant tell by the pictures) and remains the same horse he was when i first got him.

If you have anymore questions or want to know anything else dont be afraid to call or email me

Owner's Story:

I've always wanted a horse since i was a little girl. It only took nineteen years for me to finally get my wish. It was spring semester of my freshman year of college and i had kept the bet with my dad that if i got a 4.0 GPA i could finally have my own horse. During spring break my dad flew me out to Colorado, where i met the third most important man of my life. At first while trying to halter him, he ran from me. Not long after that he warmed up to me, we rode the black forest, ran barrel patterns, worked cows, and fell through ice together. Since the day i met Cody he has had a special place a my heart, and has come along with me to school. A year ago Cody came up lame and we couldn't find out why. After a series of x rays, nerve blocks and shoeing we found out that Cody has a bone spur in his plantar navicular bursa attachment. It broke my heart, but Cody remains the same sweet quirky horse. He would either make a great pasture pet or a great horse for the younger kids to get on and walk around bareback. He loves being pet and brushed and especially loves any kind of treats. This is probably one of the hardest things i will ever have to do in my life is give something up that is so important to me. But right now i am a pre vet student and will be bumping around finishing out my studies and am not in the position where i can just keep him until i find my permanent home. So i am offering him up to go to a great home and family that will love him as much as i do.

Socks

Please help this older, well tempered horse find a home! Socks has been lovingly taken care of for 30 years by my Grandmother, until colon and liver cancer have left her in Emergency care. Unfortunately, my Grandmother will not be recovering from this condition due to her advanced age and chemotherapy treatments have been stopped. One of her last requests was that her horse, Socks was well taken care of. I can not currently afford the high boarding costs due to my recent unemployment. I'm reaching out, hoping that I can find someone who will love Socks as much as my Grandmother does.

Socks is a sweet horse, who loves to graze outdoors and interact with people and other animals. He may be older, but he can still canter and carry lighter riders. He loves apples, carrots and pears. Socks also has experience being around young children. I would suggest Socks to anyone who is looking for a companion horse, therapy horse, or a young rider's horse. Please remember, that I'm not selling this horse, he would be a donation. Any additional information about Sock's health can be provided. I can give out his veterinarian's and shoers contact information.

I do not wish to make any profit off of the horse, I just want to know that he is being taken care of. When he is adopted, I will include his blankets, saddles, brushes, and all other supplies that my Grandmother owns. If you, or anyone you know is interested in adopting Socks please contact HARPS! Thank you.

Here is some vital information about the horse:

Sex: Stallion
Color: Brown and white (all white feet, hence the name "Socks")
Gelding: Not gelded
Age: 34
Height: 15 hands
Vaccination History: He is fully vaccinated and still being looked after by Bristol Vet Care in Bristol Wisconsin. Shoeing has been done monthly, and he is up to date on all shots.
Boarding: Currently being held at Don Bar Farms in IL. Boarded around other horses of all ages and gets along with them very well. Very social and outgoing horse.
Medical issues: Very healthy. The only concerns that Socks is facing currently are keeping on weight (he is currently taking and weight gain supplement) and his teeth are worn down. But, despite the condition of his teeth, he has a healthy appetite. He still goes out to the pasture 6 days a week.
